Gelatos - Do you know...?

Hi, Everyone,

Have you tried Gelatos yet?

Gelatos are acid-free pigment sticks that glide on creamy smooth (like lipstick) for vibrant colour.  They blend easily with or without water.  Gelatos are sold singly, in packs of 2, in packs of 4, in a designing set of 10, & in a gift set of 28.  They come in Metallics as well as solid colours.

Do you know the many ways to use Gelatos?
Remember, Gesso your Mixed Media pages first, so the Gelatos spread more easily on the page rather than soaking directly into the paper like a sponge.

Here are a few samples . . .

Dry Stencilling:
To create the Background, yellow & aqua Gelatos were scribbled on a gessoed page then blended with a water brush & dried.  Once dried, more aqua Gelatos were scribbled over the aqua & finger blended (to show the texture of the paper).  A Stencil was placed over the background & Gelatos were scribbled then finger blended in the spaces.  Finally, I used a fine black sharpie to outline the stencil design.

Stamping:
To create the flowers, I took a flower stamp then scribbled yellow, orange, then red
Gelatos directly on the stamp.  Then I lightly misted the stamp with water from a mini-mister & stamped the image 3 times.  I stamped a sentiment on the page with archival ink.  Finally, I used a fine black marker to draw the flower stems & leaves, & doodle around the page.

Dry Stencilling:
To create the Background, yellow & aqua Gelatos were scribbled on a gessoed page then blended with a baby wipe.  A Stencil was placed over the background & Gelatos were scribbled then blended with a foam sponge in the spaces.  Finally, I used a fine black marker to outline the stencil design & around the page.

Wet Stencilling:
To create the Background, a Stencil was taped over the paper to hold it in place.  I then took a flat paint brush, dipped it in water & painted the tip of the Gelato to pick up paint on my brush.  I then painted over the Stencil with my paintbrush.  You need to keep doing this until you have painted over the entire stencil.  Once you carefully remove the stencil from the page you have a water coloured stencilled background.  Finally, I used a fine black marker to add words & to outline the page.

Emboss Resist:
To create the flowers on a gessoed page, I stamped a flower image with Distress Ink, immediatly sprinkled UTEE over the ink, then melted the UTEE with a heat tool from above.  Once the UTEE cooled, I scribbled yellow & aqua Gelatos over the flowers & blended them with a baby wipe.  The baby wipes will gently remove the yellow Gelatos from the pink UTEEd flowers.  Finally, I used a fine black marker to  draw the flower stems & leaves, & doodle around the page.

Drips:
To create the Background, blue, lilac, purple & aqua Gelatos were scribbled at the top of a gessoed page then sprayed with water from a mini mister.  I tilted the page to create drips.  I love a spotted effect, so I ground coarse salt from a salt mill onto the wet page.  The salt reacts with the water to create a spotted effect.  Finally, I used a fine black marker to outline the page & to write the word "Salt" with dangles hanging from it.
