"Young Artists at Heart" - March 14th

Hi, Everyone,

It's been quite a while since I hosted a "Young Artists at Heart" Class.

In the past these classes were on Sundays however, in order to continue to offer them I have had to change the date to Saturdays.  I know you Young Artists have very busy schedules, but I hope you can still attend these fun sessions to come & create with me.

I am using a small Dylusions Art Journal, but any Art Journal you have will do.  We will be creating a Girl or Boy Journal page using Gesso, Super Heavy Gesso, Drywall Mesh, Archival Ink, Julie Nutting & Dina Wakely Stamps, Washi Tapes, Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays, stickers & a fine marker.

This Product Sampler we are creating will be a great resource for you to have on hand.

In between the 8 Layouts are 8 double-page spreads showing examples of:
- different Embossing Powders
- different Texture Gels
- different Velum hand drawn Dolls
- stamping with Archival Ink
- a Product List of the many different products used in the previous Layout

Hi, Everyone,

I'm so pleased with how the Cover turned out.  I absolutely LOVE it!

The drywall compound, the glazing medium, the stamping, the pouring medium, the crushed glass glitter, & all the metal embellishments came together beautifully!

For the 14 lucky ladies that get to dabble with all these Products & play with all the Embellishments

Hi, Everyone,

Inchies & Twinchies . . . who said they had to be regimented?

This weekend is about playing & experimenting.
We do what we want & we try new things.
Trying new Products that is . . . lots and lots of different Products.  This is the place to play with lots of different products without having to buy each & everyone to experiment with & spending tons of money to discover what you like & what you don't like to create art with.

Below is Layout 8:

Inchie & Twinchie pages are always so much fun to create.  They allow us to pay in tiny sections on the page & embellish the daylights out of them.

The Crackle on the background is amazing. 

The paint & glazing sneaks into the nooks & crannies to highlight the magnificent crackle texture!

ArtFest (Paper Dolls & Butterflies) - Layout 7

Hi, Everyone,

Of course we will also be playing with Inks & Sprays at our weekend extravaganza . . . but using pipettes.

We coat & protect our pages, set forth a conductor, drop inks & sprays, then manipulate the colours layer by layer to create varying degrees of intensity.  But first we scrape modelling paste through a stencil then form a resist with embossing powder.

All the fussy cutting is done for you . . . all of it . . . so you can experiment & play with all these many varied products that I will be supplying that weekend for everyone to share.

Hi, Everyone,

My Art Book would not be complete without a Ballerina.
Her form is poised & elegant.  Her tutu is made from doilies & lace.
The curtain is raised with hand sewn butterflies & her audience awaits.

Below is Layout 6:

Look at the layers & layers of texture all around the edges of the page!

We will be dabbling with Inka-Gold water soluble Beeswax Paints

in every single colour imaginable . . . your choice.

We will be stencilling Black Lava Texture Gel to create the fabric of our curtain . . . 

then hand sewing Ivory/Gold Baker's Twine to suspend a flutter of butterflies . . .

then layers of Fluid Medium, Glazing Medium, Paint, & Wax.

I love running my fingers across the pages!

Hi, Everyone,

The Altered Encyclopedia is evolving into a beautiful Art Book!
Each page is full of so much Texture.  I absolutely love running my fingers across every little bit of it.

The drywall putty, the tissue, the lace & fabric, the washi tape & papers . . .
the stamping, the fluid medium & glazing . . . it's layers & layers of Texture.

But wait . . . once we finish all the layouts . . . then we add the Metal Embellishments!

Below is Layout 5

anxiously waiting for the beautiful beads & trinkets to be added at the tips of the ribbon dress

& on the bodies of the Butterflies.

The drywall putty creates such flowing movement to the pages.

Once the Wax is applied the pages feel like leather.
