Hi, Everyone,

Ice Resin continued . . .

As I said before, Ice Resin has a magical effect on paper.  As the Resin soaks into the paper it becomes translucent.  If there is print on both sides of the paper, you will be able to see both sides of print once the Ice Resin soaks in fully.

Photos don't do this page justice.  This is a vintage book page that has been painted on 1 side with Ice Resin.  The print on the back peeks through to the front & the look is absolutely beautiful.  If you get a chance, please have a look at the finished page on display at Treasured Memories.

Have you played with Ice Resin?

Ice Resin is a two part epoxy which magically turns paper into vellum.  It's not that instant though, it takes overnight to dry.

We will be creating this beautiful translucent page accented with fabric & mesh tape at Art & Sewl.  Have a look!

Kim & I have now finished creating our FABRIC ART JOURNAL for the upcoming Art & Sewl Weekend Event.  This is a weekend full of back to back classes to create the covers & 12 pages of a Fabric Art Journal from SCRATCH.  (*sewing is Not a pre-requisite*)

This Event will be held at Treasured Memories in Edmonton.  In the past, we have had ladies from around the province as well as the surrounding area who all come together like a happy swarm of buzzing bees to share in the weekend of fun, creativity, & excitement  in being with like-minded artistic souls!  We share our extra supplies, our knowledge, our creations, our stories, & our food.  There are many many give-aways.  This is truly a great enthusiastic event that you do not want to miss.

This is a 3 day weekend event of Art Journalling, creativity, fun & prizes.  Kim Caskey & I will be hosting this year's event & what an event it will be.  We will be creating a stunning Fabric Art Journal from scratch!  We will be combining canvas, fabric, lace, paper & embellishments with mica sprays, paint, stamps, ink & thread.  The finished book will be absolutely amazing!

Our theme this year is "You've Come a Long Way Baby!".  We as women over the last 100 years have grown immensely.  We will be incorporating such things as vintage sewing, women empowerment photos & quotes, along with lots of lace & crocheted bits.

You will be supplied with the canvas covers & pages as well as the materials to complete the demo pages.

We will break for snacks & meals throughout the weekend 

& will be planning a pot-luck supper on Saturday.

"Grungy Chic" Card - March

Hi, Everyone,

I usually teach 1 card class a month using Tim Holtz products.  January & February have gone by so quickly that the 1st card class of 2014 will be in March.  We've decided to change it up a bit from corrugated Tim Holtz style cards to Shabby Chic Cards.  My Shabby Chic however, turns out to be "Grungy Chic" so that's what we're going with!

My Shabby Chic Turns out to be Grungy Chic, so please join me to create this "Grungy Chic" card.  We will be playing with Clear Embossing Resist, using Tim's new Honeycomb die peeking out of our grungy collage of antique doilies, tiny letter & envelope, filmstrip ribbon, birdcage & dragonfly, decorated inside & out

. . . & don't forget the metal Prima embellishments!

Young Artists in Training - 2nd Covers Class

Hi, Everyone,

The 1st "Young Artists in Training - Covers Class" brought me such joy that I am hoping to attract a larger young audience.  My 1st 2 young artists are continuing on this artistic journey with me & I am offering a 2nd Covers Class to allow more young people to participate in this series.

"Young Artists in Training" are classes for children & teens ages 5+.  They will get hands on experience creating with various mediums in an Art Journal.

In this 2nd "Covers Class" (Sunday, March 16) they will get an Art Journal.  They will learn how to alter the covers of that Journal & create with different mediums like mica sprays, modelling paste, Inka Gold paints, UTEE & matt gel medium.  Of course, it wouldn't be one of my classes without embellishments.

In the subsequent class (Sunday, March 30) & the $20 monthly classes to follow these Young Artists will learn how to alter the inside pages of this Journal to create their own Art portfolio.
