Rusty Patina - Tim Holtz Style March Card

Hi, Everyone,

Today I would like to show you what's in store for you at this Sunday's CC2 Tim Holtz Style March Card class . . .  the “Rusty Patina” technique.   We will be creating a manly card featuring a Rusty Patina Jalopy.

“Rusty Patina” can be created using various Lindy’s Stamp Gang products which  are sold at Treasured Memories. We will be using 2 Starburst Sprays, 2 Moonshadow Mists, a Starburst Color Shot & an Embossing Powder to create an old “Rusty Patina”.

All Moon Shadow Mists contain a Walnut stain + 2 colours of mica … creating a brownish 2 tone colour.

All Starburst Sprays contain a Sparkle pigment + 2 colours of mica … creating a sparkling 2 tone colour.
All Color Shots are in a container rather than in a spray bottle ... for easy dipping.

Let's begin.

The Jalopy was cut from chipboard using the Tim Holtz Jalopy die, then sprayed with "Buccaneer Bay Blue" Moon Shadow Mist & dried it with a heat tool (twice).
Next, we then sprayed the Jalopy with a second colour "Jack in the Pulpit Teal" Starburst Spray & dried it with a heat tool (twice). We are layering colours for added depth. Can you see the 2 different highlights?
Finally, we sprayed the Jalopy with a third colour "Tawny Turquoise" Moon Shadow Mist & dried it with a heat tool (twice) for the final layer. The 3 different highlights are quite noticeable here.
Now to get the "Rusty" part of our Patina, we pat Embossing Ink onto some parts of the Jalopy then sprinkle "Twilight Bronze" Embossing Powder onto the dabbed parts, then melt the embossing powder with a heat tool ... creating "Rusty Patina".

Tim's die has several cut-outs like a bumper, trim & wheels to add dimention to the Jalopy. I used tweezers to dip the bumper & trim into the "Opal Sea Oats" Starburst Color Shot. These Color Shots are great because you do not waste the colour by spraying it, you save colour by dipping your piece into the container.
Now to add shimmer to the burlap we are using on the card, we spray it with "Grab a Guy Gold" Starburst Spray & dried it with a heat tool.
As well, to add shimmer to the Vintage Ledger paper we used on the inside of the card, we also sprayed it with "Grab a Guy Gold" Starburst Spray & dried it with a heat tool.
This is what the card looks like all put together! I will be offering this card class on Sunday, March 10 at Treasured Memories from 1-3 p.m. Stop by & register while you are checking out all the different Lindy's Stamp Gang products.

Have fun creating!
