Filmstrip Layout (on Steroids)

Hi, Everyone,

Since my Apple update 2 weeks ago, my computer settings have had to be reset every day.  This has caused some computer errors & I have had to do a changed re-post.

Below is a 3D layout I created using the new "Art of Life" paper by Kaiser Kraft.  I also used Embossing Paste to add texture to the background.  As well, all the flowers & leaves are handmade with canvas & burlap.

One of the Prima classes I took in California was taught by Frank Garcia.   He made a photo pull-back by using jute to pull back paper to reveal a photo.   I loved that photo pull-back idea so much that I asked Frank if I could use the photo pull-back idea in a future class of mine.  He said yes & asked that I give him credit for the idea.  So Frank here you go, *Photo-pull backs inspired by Frank Garcia*.  All other design aspects of this layout are from my own imagination.

I of course, like to include metal to all my projects, so I have added Tim Holtz clips to the pull-back before adding a heavier twine.  The metal really adds a lot & brings more attention to the pull-back.  Yes we all get inspiration from others, pinterest, or blogs . . . & we add our own spin on it to make it different, giving credit where credit is due.

Take a look at the layout I created.

Love the embellishments, handmade flowers, & lots of metal
(monocle, key, token, gears, clock hands, pen nib, buckle, ruler).

The black Embossing Paste is amazing.

Young Artists in Training (ages 5+)

Hi, Everyone,

With my little one-year-old grandson growing by leaps & bounds, I have been thinking about art for children quite a bit lately.  Children are very brave when it comes to art.  They dive into a project with no hesitation, giving it everything they have, & totally having fun.

I am now offering classes for children & teens ages 5+.  These Young Artists in Training will get hands on experience creating with various mediums in an Art Journal.

In the 1st class (Sunday, February 16) they will get an Art Journal.  They will learn how to alter the covers of that Journal & create with different mediums like Lindy's mica sprays, modelling paste, Inka Gold paints, UTEE & matt gel medium.  Of course, it wouldn't be one of my classes without embellishments.

In the 2nd class (Sunday, March 30) & the monthly classes to follow, these Young Artists will learn how to alter the inside pages of this Journal to create their own Art portfolio.

Below are the front & back covers.

CHA - Tim Holtz & Ranger

Hi, Everyone,

This year I was very lucky.  Since I work at Treasured Memories I was very humbled & am extremely grateful for the store sponsoring me to attend CHA.  For me, it was a wonderful opportunity to be given the privilege to enter such a conference in which most people do not get to attend.  Thank you Treasured Memories.  Thank you for enabling me to see first hand the incredible displays with my own eyes.  For this, I will always be thankful.

Off we go.

This is the massive CHA Conference Centre in Anaheim, California.
It is surrounded by hotels & Disneyland & it was 85 degrees outside.
What a great place to have a conference.

With all the glass, the foyer is flooded with sunshine (so much that you cannot see the scissors beside me that are completely covered in clear shiny rhinestones).

When I got to the Ranger booth, my jaw dropped.

It was like you were in the most amazing Antique store. . .

or the most amazing Art Studio.

Then you turn your head. . .

and your jaw drops again.

I remember what my aunt, Sister Simone, would say
"God's beauty.  What beauty for the eyes to behold!"

This is a sample of the make & take at the Ranger booth.
I will be bringing mine into the store for display once Fedex delivers my parcel containing all my projects that I had shipped home from California.

These are the new papers Tim Holtz is coming out with.  They are absolutely stunning.

Here are some of the new dies & embossing folders Tim Holtz is coming out with.
I usually buy at least 1 of everything new, but this time there is so much new product that I don't think my wallet can do that.  It's going to be a tough decision.

He's also come up with 9 new Stencils.  Nine!  How am I going to choose?  I own all the others!

Then there's these dies. . . of which I cannot live without.

Do you SEE the Gears!  OMG!!!
I may have to give up my first born for this.

The heavens were smiling, because the Honeycomb die was a give away!

My head nearly burst when I saw all the embellishments!

Oh, the new fabric!

. . . to top it all off, I got to watch Finnabair
doing a demo spraying one of the new Prima Canvas Bags.
What a lovely, talented, inspiring Artist.

Yes, I am very grateful for Treasured Memories to have given me the opportunity to see first hand all  the beauty to behold at this awe inspiring show.
Thank you once again.

Have fun creating!

Hi, Everyone,

It's going to be a very busy & exciting New Year.

In 9 days I'm boarding a plane with my bestest buddy to create at ART Venture 2014 in Anaheim, California.  This event is going to be spectacular!  It's 2 days of 6 Prima Classes from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with 6 amazing instructors . . . one of them being Anna Dabrowska, my absolute FAVOURITE Artist of all time!

Then from January 10-14 is the winter CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) where companies release their new product lines!  This is the 1st time I have had the opportunity to go & I am so thrilled!  I've also registered for 4 classes.  I'm so pumped.

As an additional treat after CHA my bestest buddy is taking me to see the Pacific Ocean!  I am so lucky to have Roxane as my travelling companion.  We are on cloud nine!

Then once I get back, my eldest daughter gets married January 24.  I still have wedding favours, a seating chart, menus, table numbers, programs, directions for the guest book (puzzle pieces) & a Ukrainian Wedding Bread to make.  Oh dear God, there's not enough days to get everything done . . . & did I mention that I am so fortunate to babysit my grandson 3 days a week!

Life is good.

Merry Christmas!

Hi, Everyone,
Thank you so much for creating with me over this past year.

I love your enthusiasm & you showing me the things you've created after taking my classes & the awesome things you have created on your own.

I would like to share with you the cards I made this year.  Have a look.

I chose black cards & envelopes for my base.  Classic & Elegant.

Of course the Tim Holtz Doily Die with something new . . . clear plastic tape with white designs.

The clear tape with white designs is available at Treasured Memories & looks so beautiful on dark backgrounds.  Here I used the snowflake design . . . & doesn't that drywall mesh look amazing on the envelope along with the paper bow?

The Tim Holtz Ornament die from last year has the tiny ornament hanger that I love to use to hang my sentiments from (the silver sparkle paper looks amazing).

Don't forget a slide mount made from card stock & staples.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a joyous New Year!

Have fun creating!
